I’ve just found out that I would need fertility treatment (Clomid, IVF, possible egg donation). I’m 37 so time is not on my side. I have been with my boyfriend for a year and love him dearly. However, he has a son of 14 from a previous relationship who he sees occasionally and is not over keen on having more children. He wants us to take more time over our decision whether to pursue treatment but I am finding it hard to put this off any longer. I feel that I need to know sooner rather than later as I would dearly love to raise a family.

I have always wanted to raise children in a loving relationship, but I am now faced with the decision of whether to stay with him and risk his decision being no, or to leave him and go it alone as I have been advised by the docs that my chances of success will lessen over time. I am not willing to just look for a man to be a father as I am in love with my boyfriend and cannot contemplate being with anyone else at the moment.

Any thoughtful advice is greatly appreciated.

This is a complex one so I will try to keep it simple. I was told I couldn’t have kids, but conceived after 2 rounds of fertility treatment. I have wanted a baby for years. I am happily married, with a good job and a lovely house and I have never been happier.

I just spoke to one of my best friends who recently jacked in her job to go travelling and she is now 6 weeks pregnant by a 20 year old Albanian who not only is wanted by the police, but is married and his 17 year old wife is pregnant. My friend is 31 – with no job, no home, no support network and the baby’s father has already washed his hands of everything. my friend is lovely but is very irresponsible and totally selfish, but she is now really mixed up and wants my advice.

I can’t tell her to get rid of it because I know more than most how precious a child can be, but on the other hand she needs to know that she will need money and security for the child. She seems to think the government will throw benefits at her.
What do I say to her. I want her to wake up and realise that a baby is not like a pet – she can’t just leave it at home and go to the pub. She leads the life of a perpetual student and is constantly broke. I personally don’t think she will cope with a baby, but on the other hand it might be the making of her.

What should I do?

I have done some research and found out that if i have a baby then my health issues with Pcos will improve. Do you know if this true in most cases?

I’m not ready to be a mother myself, but i really need my health issues improved so i can hold a job down properly and not have to ring my employer and say i cant come in today because i’m laid up in bed in agony, im sooooo unreliable right now no treatment works either i’ve had injections, the pill (which is spost to be the cure for PCOS but it actually makes me worse) I have had PCOS since i was 14. I am going to be 19 in june and yes i no i’m young and i think people won’t trust a 19year old but i dont smoke and i dont drink. I go walking with my partner up monutains every month when i feel up to it so i am quite healthy.

I would really like to be a surrogant mother for someone, so that we both benefit from the process, they’d be helping me and i’d be helping them.

I have a cyst on my ovary and it keeps coming back, i”ve been told by my GP that my hormone imbalance is fine and the cyst keeps coming back because i do ovulate.I’ve not been on any contraception for 18months me and my partner we’re trying for that ammount of time but it never happened. So i’m not sure wether anyone would accept me
when i have PCOS, and i have never had my own child and i have never had fertility treatment. (but if i ovulate naturally then i think i would be ok) and it might of had somthing to do with my partner with why it never happend for us because as i no it takes two.
What do you think?
Please don’t just put go to your GP i’m looking for proper answers and if anyone has ever been in the same situation
