My wife and I had IUI treatment a couple of weeks ago. We have found out we are pregnant and were told by the fertility clinic to come in for a scan at 6 1/2 weeks, hopefully to hear a heartbeat.
I know that normally my wife would be entitled to paid time off work for antenatal appointments but would this scan be included as it’s not the antenatal department?
We have a letter of proof although it just says fertility follow up scan.
My wife is worried she won’t be able to get the time off (either paid or unpaid) is this right??
Thank you for any advice!!

Of course she will get the time off do not worry!
They have to give you any time off and even though it is not the ante-natal clinic, I assure you she is allowed the time off!
Show them the letter everything will be fine.
If they said no, which they cant, then take it further. I wouldnt go in.
good luck and congratulations.

She should get time off as they have no right to say no. It’s hospital appointment and she’s willing to have unpaid leave.

There’s no need to be worried, they cant sack someone for going to a pregnancy scan, even if they do say no to time off, they dont rule your life, take the day off anyway
