Since going off birth control pills in Feb. 07, I have not been ovulating. Since October, I have taken 5 rounds of Clomid from 50mg to 200mg. Only 2 cycles were successful. My dr. just prescribed Letrozole / Femara instead of Clomid this month. I was just curious to hear other people’s experiences with this med. Did it make you ovulate? Did you get pregnant? Any side effects? Any info you could share would help! Thanks!

Maybe I’m reading into this more than I should, but how forthcoming is your doctor with you? The questions you’re asking, especially about effects from stopping birth control should be answered in depth by him/her or at the very least, by your pharmacist. I’ve never taken Femara, so sorry, I can’t help you with side effects questions. I just get concerned that people aren’t getting the amount of reliable information they should from the people who should be giving it to them. Good luck!

I have been on Femara for the past 4 cycles. I actually experienced a lot less side effects than with Clomid. I hardly even noticed most of the cycle, however right before my period my PMS was different. With Clomid I had very bad cramps and very heavy periods, I would get night sweats, and I would get headaches. However, with Femara my boobs were sore/itchy, but I didn’t have any cramps, and I had very light and short periods.
It really confused me at first because the change made me think I was pregnant. It has not worked for me. I have done it in conjunction with IUI’s. However, I am ovulating.
Don’t be discouraged though because my husband has issues and that is why we aren’t conceiving.
