Fertility Clinic advice?

Hi basically me and my partner have been trying for 14 months to concieve. I have now been referred to the fertilty clinic, my appointment is in 6 weeks,
Ive have got Pcos and am taking metforming, i have recently had blood tests as i need to take the results with me, also my partner has had a semen specimen taken. So all in all we are pretty prepared.
I just want to know what they will do when we get, i know they will want to know our medical backround etc but will they start me on some sort of medication straight away or will that take more appointments and tests before they decide.
Also lost 15Ibs so far in the hope of becoming pregnant!

well , they do some blood test to check your hormones to see if you ovulate or not , then an internal ultrasound to check your ovaries & pcos , they might want to check if your tubes are blocked or not , it sounds scary but it’s not that bad , i’ve done all of these !
& then they tell you if your partner has a problem or not …
they usually do not give you any medicine on the first day , it’s more like a consultation , good luck & stay strong . x

Hi at your first appointment your right they take medical history and also they may take some blood samples of there own. They will go throught the treatment there going to give you and give any advice, they will also inform you of any waiting list for the treatment etc You will have to make another appointment because its unlikely they will start you on any treatment that day. Well done in losing the weight!!! Hope everything goes well for use and Good luck xx

The first thing they will do is get your partner to do a semen sample and they will internally scan you to see how severe your PCOS is.

They will the go from there prescribing treatment as and when they have all the results back!

I wouldnt expect too much from your first visit (and I can guarantee they dont give you medication that day) It generally consists of getting all your medical background, maybe some blood tests, scanning you and taking your partners sample away for analysis – it can take 3 days to get the results (assuming you are NHS not private funding)!

    Good luck!
